Un progetto di Varo Venturi, film & musicmaker costantemente fuori dai confini del mainstream, benchè sia l’autore del più sfruttato evergreen della musica italiana: Amore Disperato.
“The Varus Project” è un’impresa fatta di musica densa del suo background raccontato in anni di ricerca, film provocatori, come “6 giorni sulla terra”, esperienze spirituali, poesia dell’invisibile, nell’imperscrutabile urgenza di dipingere l’Apocalisse contemporanea.
Dove, tra ombre di canti etnici, impeti sinfonici, musica sacra, e sperimentazione, emerge lo stile, l’immagine, e le provocazioni del rock, che oggi, pur se deprivato degli illusori motivi rivoluzionari degli anni ‘60/‘70, rimane la forma espressiva più potente a disposizione.
E intorno alla sua voce, ai confini tra il cantare, il raccontare e l’informare, una band di musicisti “analogici”, tra Theremin, tamburi, chitarre e tastiere vintage, a salvaguardia di un futuro prossimo in cui l’anima, e insieme ad essa la musica e tutte le arti, sembra destinata ad essere definitivamente clonata dalla AI.
Una realtà in cui Varo, vanificando logiche, preconcetti e convinzioni, ritiene di essere “un uomo venuto dal passato”…

A project by Varo Venturi, filmmaker & musicmaker constantly off boundaries of the mainstream, although he is the author of the most exploited evergreen of the Italian music ever: Amore Disperato.
“The Varus Project is an enterprise made of music dense with his background told in years of research, provocative films, such as 6 giorni sulla terra (a.k.a. Alien Exorcism) spiritual experiences, poetry of the invisible, in the inscrutable urgency of painting the contemporary Apocalypse.
Where, among shadows of ethnic chants, symphonic outbursts, sacred music and experimentation, emerges the style, the image, and the provocations of “rock”, which today, even if deprived of the illusory revolutionary motifs of the 60s / 70s, remains the most powerful form of expression available.
And around his voice, on the borders between singing, telling and informing, a band of “analog” musicians, between Theremin, drums, vintage guitars and keyboards, to safeguard a near future in which the human soul, and with it music and all the arts, seems destined to be definitively cloned by the AI.
A reality in which Varo, nullifying logic, preconceptions and beliefs, believes himself to be “a man coming from the past”…
Caput Mundi Echelon

In questo primo singolo del progetto, una sorta di solenne inno/litania, epitaffio di un mondo che sta per essere “cancellato”, il testo elenca semplicemente capitali del mondo antico e moderno, ma conclude sempre inesorabilmente con “Roma Caput Mundi Echelon” (Roma, capitale dell’ordine mondiale) in una estasi bellica, tribale, in cui il sepolcrale canto di Varo, sorvolato dalla celestiale aliena voce di Ulan, cantante mongola, esalta la multietnicità della città eterna, immaginandola come ancora ai vertici del governo planetario.
In this first single of the project, a sort of solemn hymn/litany, epitaph of a world that is about to be “erased”, the lyrics simply lists capitals of the ancient and modern world, but always concludes inexorably with “Roma Caput Mundi Echelon” (Rome, capital of the World Order) in a warlike, tribal ecstasy, in which the sepulchral song of Varo, overflown by the celestial alien voice of Ulan, Mongolian singer, enhances the multi-ethnicity of the eternal city, imagining it as still at the top of planetary government.
